Director of Refugee Camps during the Nicaraguan and Salvadorian wars. Trained 63 refugee pastors to organize and minister to 74,000 refugees in four different refugee camps. The camps were dismantled after the war.

We were successful and my commitment was for one year. Upon successful completion I resigned to return to the full time responsibilities of the ministry.

Chief Liaison with the University’s Undergraduate Admission Committee (coordinate the decisions of the Admission Subcommittee), Development Office, College of Continuing Education, Testing Bureau (coordinate institutional SAT & ACT exams), Freshman Access Program, Student Athletic Advisement Program, NCAA representative for Men’s & Women’s Athletic Admission, Approved Letters of Intent. Responsible for developing a closer working relationship between the School of Religion and the Christian High Schools. Coordinated the $372 million dollar Financial Aid budget and a staff of 169 members.

Responsible for developing the policies and recruiting strategies that the 9 Assistant Directors, 2 Admission Officers, 9 Counselors, 6 Evaluators and support staff, supervised their accomplishments. Responsibilities encompassed three main areas: operational/managerial, public relations/ research and special projects. As well as administering a $2 million dollar operating budget. Traveled extensively and spoke at over 176 college night programs in high schools in 13 states.

Coordinated student tutors to assist the many newly arrived Spanish-speaking students of migrant workers to learn the English language; participated in the development of the ESL Program and Teacher Corps Program which sensitized the public schools in Cedar Rapids, West Liberty, Muscatine, Nichols, Davenport & Iowa City to the needs of these students. Responsible for 4 Teacher Corp interns practicum at the Genaro Vasquez Bilingual School, which was the first program to recruit and train bilingual teachers in the State of Iowa, managed the staff and student enrollment of 500 migrant students.
