This study is a look at the foundations of our America church music, which can be found in our changing religious, social, economic, and political environments.  It has been from the stress of wars, depression, frightening scientific developments, social decay, and theological controversy that much of our native hymnody and church music have been created.  It has also been much of this music that has provided a 'resting place' for the living faith of each new generation.  Our music has also given us a basis for a better understanding of our own heritage of faith and mission.
