Dr. Edsel Bone

Edsel M. Bone, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Bone was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas and spent much of his life in Memphis, Tennessee.  He is a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary, Bachelor of Ministry, after having studied in Church Music with the University of Memphis.  Dr. Bone completed studies for the Master of Ministry, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies with the Southern Baptist School for Biblical Studies in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Macclenny, Florida and has held pastorates at First Baptist Church, Southaven, Mississippi and Westgate Baptist Church, Trenton, Illinois.  He was Associate Pastor of Frayser Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee, First Baptist Church of Millington, Tennessee and served as Minister of Music and Youth at both Northview Baptist Church and Whitten Memorial Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee.  Dr. Bone also served as a Vocational Evangelist from 1976 to 1983 and will celebrate forty seven in ministry in April of 2013.

 

Dr. Edsel Bone is married to the former Judy Carol Harrison of Memphis, Tennessee and they have two grown children, Lonnie Alan Bone and April Evangeline Rankin.  Edsel and Judy celebrate life with eight wonderful grandchildren.  He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Southern Baptist School for Biblical Studies in Jacksonville, Florida.  His denominational service has included Chairman of the Association Budget Committee, Chairman of the Associational Missions Development Council, Chairman of the Associational Evangelism Committee, and he is a Founding Officer of the Baker County Ministers Association.

 

Dr. Bone is uniquely experienced and wonderfully prepared for his leadership role at Covington Theological Seminary.
