Seminary Division

Covington Schools offer the following advanced degree programs to those who are college graduates and desire to seek an advanced degree. The student must maintain �C� average and complete the requirements specified for each degree.

 

Master of Ministry (M.Min.)

This is a graduate degree requiring the candidate to complete forty semester hours of work beyond the Bachelor degree. The student, before enrolling in this program, must have a Bachelor degree from Covington or an acceptable college or seminary.

 

Should the student desire, a major is available in fields of Bible, Theology, Pastoral Studies, Biblical Counseling, Missions, Christian Worship or Ethnic Studies.

 

Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.)

The candidate for this degree must meet the same prerequisites to enter this program as for the M.Min. This program calls for the student to complete forty semester hours of work beyond the Bachelor program, majoring in Christian Education.

 

Master of Theology (Th.M.)

This degree is offered to those who desire a more in-depth master�s program. Sixty-four semester hours of work beyond the Bachelor is required. Entrance requirement is a Bachelor or other Master�s degree.

 

Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

The highest obtainable Master�s degree offered at Covington, the Master of Divinity requires ninety-six semester hours of studies above the Bachelor. Research, writing, and independent study are included along with a 25,000 word Thesis.

 

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

The prerequisite calls for entering this program calls for the candidate to hold a Master�s degree or its equivalent from Covington or an acceptable college or seminary. One must complete fortysemester hours of work beyond the Master�s degree level. Should the student desire, a major is available in the fields of Bible, Theology, Pastoral Studies, Biblical Counseling, Missions, Christian Worship or Ethnic Studies.

 

Doctor of Religious Education (D.R.E.)

The candidate for this degree must hold an earned Master degree from Covington or an acceptable college or seminary before being eligible to enroll in this program. The candidate must then complete forty semester hours of work with Covington which shall include the writing of a thesis in the field of Christian Education, containing no less than 25,000 words.

 

Doctor of Theology (Th.D.)

This is a degree that carries weight and dignity. Therefore, the candidate who enrolls in this program of study must show that he/she is capable of doing doctoral work.  He/she must hold an earned Master�s degree from Covington or an acceptable college or seminary with a composite of at least 200 earned hours. He/she then must complete forty four hours of work through Covington which includes writing a 50,000 word thesis in the field of Theology. Two hard bound copies must be presented to the seminary. One copy will be returned to the candidate and the other will be kept in the seminary library.

 

Minimum Studies for Degree

No degree will be issued at any level until the student has completed the minimum required hours equivalent to one year�s work at that level.
