Alumni Officers

Officers: They shall be elected by simple majority vote at its regular annual business meeting on odd numbered years, a slate of four officers whose term shall run for two years. A slate of nominees for each of the Association offices shall be prepared through the joint effort of the Seminary's Alumni Liaison and Faculty Advisor. This slate of nominees shall be presented to the Association Secretary not later than one week prior to the annual business meeting on the year elections are to be held. Other nominations may be submitted by mail to the Alumni Liaison at the Seminary business address or by e-mail at info.covingtonseminary.org. Such mail in nominations must be received by the Seminary business office not later than seven days prior to the business meeting at which election of officers will be held and shall be forwarded to the Association Secretary as soon after they are received as practical. Floor nominations may be made at the annual business meeting during the election process. The offices to be filled and a brief description of the duties of each office shall be as follows:
  • President: The President of the Association shall chair all business meetings, provide leadership in keeping the Association active in fulfilling its purpose for existing, delegate responsibilities to the other officers of the association to assist in fulfilling the purpose of the Associations existence, call special business meetings when necessary, and maintain close contact with the Seminary Alumni Liaison. The President shall approve with the First Vice President, the expenditure of funds in the Association account to be arranged by the Alumni Advisor.
  • First Vice President: The First Vice President shall be acquainted with the duties of the President and be prepared to assume the duties of the President in his or her absence or should the office of President become vacant. The First Vice President shall approve with the President, the expenditure of funds in the Association account to be arranged by the Alumni Advisor. In the event the First Vice President is acting as temporary President, the First Vice President shall approve with the Second Vice President, the expenditure of funds in the Association account to be arranged by the Alumni Advisor. The First Vice President shall assist the President of the Association in all Association endeavors as requested.
  • Second Vice President: The Second Vice President shall minister to the needs of the Seminary, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff by sending cards or e-mails expressing the Associations concern with respect to sickness, death, or other major crisis in the immediate family of these individuals. The Second Vice President shall also place the families of the individuals in crisis at the feet of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through remembrance in prayer. If there are special situations with respect to these concerns, the Second Vice President shall send the President of the Association notice of these special situations and suggested ways in which the Association as a whole might minister to these needs. At any time the First Vice President is temporarily serving in the capacity of President, the Second Vice President shall approve with the First Vice President, the expenditure of funds in the Association account to be arranged by the Alumni Advisor.
  • Secretary: The Secretary shall take minutes at all official business meetings, prepare such minutes in a formal typed format and see that a copy of such minutes is provided to all alumni officers, the President of Covington Theological Seminary, and the Covington Theological Seminary Alumni Liaison. The Secretary shall also maintain a permanent record of such minutes for future review. The Secretary shall also maintain with the permanent record of Association minutes, the original copy of the Association charter.
