Report from RioDeJaneiro: 3/12/15

This has been an exciting week of ministry in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as well as a heart breaking week of ministry.

On Sunday I was able to minister at a very large Charismatic Church of about 2,000 members in which the local so called Prophet had prophesied that God would give me a Brazilian wife to console the loss in my life. This was before I even began to preach the Word of God. The so called prophet had no idea what was coming. The worship and praised portion of the service went on for about 2 hours. The pastor told me that I had 20 minutes to bring a message. I just smiled because I knew he had no idea what was coming either.

This was complete charismatic chaos. Nonstop chanting and prophesying over each other. In two hours of this nonsense I had 6 people to prophesy over me. Part of me just smiled thinking to myself that they had no idea what was coming and the other part of me was deeply saddened to see that the Corinthian church was still alive and deceiving people.

So called Prophesies:

1.     God would heal my body from my afflictions.

2.     God would allow me to pastor a church once again.

3.     God would restore me back to fellowship within the body of Christ.

4.     God had anointed me to be an apostle.

5.     God had chosen me to serve in the U.S. Senate as his chosen vessel.

6.     God would grant me two sons to follow me in the ministry.

This did not include the new Brazilian wife I would receive to console me in the loss of my current wife.

So I decided and I believe that the Lord directed me to preach on Deuteronomy 18:15-22.

Deuteronomy 18:15-22 (NASB)
15  "The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.
16  "This is according to all that you asked of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, let me not see this great fire anymore, or I will die.'
17  "The LORD said to me, 'They have spoken well.
18  'I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
19  'It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak in My name, I Myself will require it of him.
20  'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'
21  "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'
22  "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

I told the congregation that I would speak on the gift of prophesying. The place went absolutely crazy. They started jumping up and down all over again. I had to yell at them in the microphone to sit down and be quiet. I told them that the pastor informed me that I only had 20 minutes to preach and that I was not going to allow any thief to steal my time.

I took the time to explain what the text was actually saying. And with about 5 minutes left to go I proceeded to tell them that:

1.     God had already healed my body from my afflictions, past tense and not future. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

2.     God would allow me to pastor a church once again.

I was already pastoring a church and been doing so for the last 32 years this month of March; in fact the same church. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

3.     God would restore me back to fellowship within the body of Christ.

I had never left the fellowship or had ever been excommunicated from the Evangelical Christian Church or from my home church. Unless something happened while I was in Brazil and nobody told me about it. Right? (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

4.     God had anointed me to be an apostle.

I have always publically and privately rebuked anybody and everybody who has ever attempted to name me an apostle. I had to quickly explain what a true biblical apostle was and his qualifications. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

5.     God had chosen me to serve in the U.S. Senate as his chosen vessel.

I told them that I would never serve in such a corrupt body of self-serving politicians and abandon the highest calling on earth; which is the pastorate. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

6.     God would grant me two sons to follow me in the ministry.

I told them that I had one son and one daughter. Neither one of them serving in the pulpit ministry and I had no intentions of having any more babies. I didn't think and do not believe that my wife either had any intentions or was capable of having any more babies at her age. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

Which finally brings me to the very first prophesy that was given to me about God consoling my soul in the loss of my wife and giving me a new Brazilian wife. I told them that next month on April 7th I was celebrating 42 years of marriage to the same wife. In fact I am going on vacation to Hawaii next month with my teenage wife. (Either God was not told or He was late or the so called prophet was wrong; you decide).

Now we finally arrived at the end of the 20 minutes. I asked the congregation if they were interested in hearing anymore about the Word of God. They were in shock. Either I was lying or God was confused. They started to yell in unison to the pastor to allow me to expound on the Word of God. The pastor and the so call prophets refused to allow me to speak any further. I thanked them and told them to read the Word of God for themselves. As I stepped down from the platform people asked where I would be speaking later. My interpreted told them that night I would be at another church and at what time and where it was located. To my surprise there were over visitors at the next church from that same church that night.

That was my first church on the first day back in Brazil. God help us!
